sin embargo nuevas investigaciones tienden a concertar terapias a la inversa, es decir, para evitar que la insulina sea eliminada en el organismo.Así lo reveló el doctor Malcolm A. Leissring del departamento de neurociencia de la Clínica Mayo y líder del estudio &lt;b&gt;“Bloqueando la descomposición de la insulina es simplemente un método alternativo para lograr el mismo objetivo de las muchas terapias existentes para la diabetes”.&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;Los investigadores probaron esta idea estudiando a los ratones en quienes la enzima degradadora de la insulina (IDE) fue eliminada o genéticamente borrada.&amp;nbsp; IDE es una máquina molecular que normalmente mastica a la hormona insulina, rompiéndola en trozos más pequeños.&amp;nbsp; Los niveles de insulina en la sangre son controlados, en parte, por este proceso.&lt;b&gt;Comparado con ratones normales, aquellos con IDE eliminado tienen más insulina en general, pesaron menos y fueron más eficientes en el control del azúcar en la sangre. &lt;/b&gt;Fueron, en efecto, “súper ratones” respecto a su habilidad para disminuir su azúcar en la sangre después de una comida, el proceso que está interrumpido en la diabetes, explica el doctor Leissring.Estos descubrimientos sugieren que las drogas que inhiben IDE podrían ser de utilidad para tratar la diabetes.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;b&gt;El equipo del doctor Leissring está trabajando activamente en desarrollar drogas de este tipo.
